The administration of Kyambogo University has come out and addressed on the incident of the police officer who told a Kyambogo Muslim female to remove her veil in order to be searched at the entrance of the university examination hall.
It’s clearly understandable that the officer was trying to follow protocol on the new guidelines that were issued by the University for students to access the university facilities due to the recent bombing attacks made by the rebels in the capital city Kampala.
The vice Chancellor Dr. Eli katunguka Rwakishava said that the university doesn’t agree on the manner in which the police officer carried out his duties as it was very demeaning to the Muslim community.
“The police officer is being cautioned and the police leadership is handling the matter with caution to their professional standard” said the Vice Chancellor in a letter.
