In a letter dated 30th October 2020, Richard K. Manano, the Kyambogo University Director of Human Resources revealed that one of the univerisity’s staff has tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing treatment at Mulago Hospital. The official has been identified as Mr. Olum Denis, a Desk Officer in the Faculty of Vocational Studies.
Manano further directed that all people who work in the same office with Olum should go into self- isolation and carry out work from their respective homes.
“The Directorate of Human Resources has received a letter dated 30th October 2020 from the Director Health Services to the effect that: Mr. Olum Denis, Desk Officer in the Faculty of Vocational Studies tested positive for COVID-19 and is admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital for treatment.” Part of Manano’s letter reads.
“All people in the office where he works are contacts and should be isolated from the community and monitored from their homes.” The letter reads further.
According to Manano, the said staff will work from home with effect from 30th October 2020 to 12th November 2020 and their offices will be fumigated.
More details indicate that officials from the Ministry of Health will take samples from all the listed staff and will be tipped on how to control the spread of COVID-19 during the isolation period.
