Police and Kyambogo University authorities are investigating the death of a student who was found dead in her hostel room in Banda, a Kampala suburb, on Monday.
The university identified the deceased as Precious Musimenta, a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. She was found dead in her room at Sports Pro-Hostel in Banda and was attached to North Hall at the university.
In a communication dated September 28, 2026, the Office of the Dean of Students confirmed the death. Dean of Students Dr Agnes Nakimuli Mugalu said the body was taken to City Mortuary for further examination, adding that a postmortem would be conducted to establish the cause of death.
The university did not disclose the circumstances in which Musimenta was found, nor whether she had reported any illness before her death. No cause of death had been announced by the time of the university’s communication.
The Student Welfare Department has reached out to Musimenta’s family as arrangements for her burial begin.
Investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected once the postmortem results are released.
