While addressing the press today morning, the Kyambogo University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka revealed that they cannot fix graduation dates now because final year students haven’t carried out internship, which is key before graduation.
Katunguka added that bachelors of education finalists also need to do school and collage practice before being allowed to graduate.
”We cannot fix a date for graduation now because final year students have not carried out internship and internship is one of the requirements for graduation. Also students who do education have not been able to do school practice or collage practice because these ones are done when schools are open and running and we do not know yet when the schools will be open and allowed to run normally.“ Katunguka told journalists.
“We are waiting for government to guide us on this and then we shall have the activity and plan for graduation.” He added.
The Vice Chancellor also explained that continuing students will resume their semester two online on 18th January up to 30th January 2021 . According to Katunguka, the students will study virtually for two weeks and then they will appear for face to face lectures from 1st February to 14th February.
Continuing students will then sit for their final examinations from 15th Feb to 28th Feb 2021 which will mark the end of semester two 2019/2020 academic year. Semester one for the academic year 2020/2021 will begin on 1st march 2021 and it will end on 4th July 2021. Within this period, freshers are expected to join for their first year.
