In a graduation ceremony that has concluded today (Friday), Kyambogo University (KYU) bestowed the best overall female student award upon Esther Abido during its 19th graduation ceremony that commenced on Wednesday 6th December. Abido, a scholar who pursued a Bachelor of Administrative Science, earned this distinguished recognition with an exceptional Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.88.
In the light of her achievement, Abido recalled the moment when she considered joining Kyambogo (Soroti campus) for studies at a time when her life seemed like it had caved in.
Abido revealed that she dealt with a lot of pain when she lost her daughter at seven months and her one-year-old-son before she took the leap of faith to enroll for a course to help take her pain away.
“Instead of grieving and depressing myself more, I made something good out of the pain by going to school and today (last Wednesday), I have been recognized as the best female student.” Abido narrated to a native publication, Daily Monitor.
“My God has been faithful.” she said, while recounting the trying moments.
This is all thanks to her decision to upgrade her qualification to a Degree from a Diploma in Secretarial Studies which she pursued at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in 2013 under government sponsorship, she says.
