The Law Development Centre (LDC) has received clearance from the Ministry of Health to proceed with its 53rd Graduation Ceremony, Part II as a physical event, ending weeks of uncertainty for hundreds of graduands and their families.

The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, 19th June 2026, starting at 8:30 AM at the LDC Kampala Campus, and will be held under the theme “Empowered to Build a Justice-Centred Uganda through Law, Technology, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Alternative Justice Systems.”

The confirmation was communicated in an official statement signed by Academic Registrar Stephanie Lukwanzi on Wednesday, 11th June 2026.

The green light does not come without strings. The Ministry of Health granted clearance on condition that strict public health measures are observed throughout the event. These include health screening of all participants at entry points, provision of handwashing facilities and sanitisers, adequate spacing in seating arrangements, regular cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, and the avoidance of unnecessary physical contact.

Any person presenting symptoms of illness will be immediately referred to the nearest health authority. Anyone who feels unwell is advised not to attend at all.

To reinforce these measures, the Ministry of Health has deployed its public health teams to provide technical guidance, monitoring and oversight on the day of the ceremony.

Perhaps the most significant restriction for graduating students is the guest limit. In line with the access-control and seating arrangements at the venue, each graduand will be permitted to attend with only two parents or guardians. Families hoping to turn up in numbers will need to make difficult choices about who makes the cut.

All graduands, parents, guardians, staff, invited guests and service providers have been asked to cooperate fully with the health teams and comply with all guidance issued before, during and after the ceremony.

Graduands will not receive their academic documents on the day of the ceremony. Collection will take place on separate days the following week, depending on the academic year of graduation:

  • AY 2024/2025: Monday, 22nd June 2026
  • AY 2023/2024: Tuesday, 23rd June 2026
  • AY 2022/2023 and previous years: Wednesday, 24th June 2026

Collection hours are 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day at the LDC Kampala Campus.

LDC, located on Plot 339, Kagugube, off Gadaffi Road in Kampala, has been Uganda’s sole institution for postgraduate legal training since its establishment. Its graduates form a significant part of Uganda’s legal profession, from the bar to the bench.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. The hill has been climbed — now go collect your papers.
