The Law Development Center (LDC) is scheduled to have the law dinner for its students/lawyers, of both the Mbarara and Kampala campus some time next month as was revealed by Ms. Annet Mutabingwa, the Head Bar Course. The dinner is a farewell for the lawyers as the academic year will be ending at the end of August, 2019.
During the welcoming briefing for the term last week, 25th June 2019, the lawyers were informed that they would be attending a finalist law dinner at a date, time and venue to communicated within the coming days of the term.
However, according to what Campus Bee has gathered, what stood out most in the briefing was the stringent requirements for one to attend the dinner, and the fact that attendance is mandatory.
Speaking to the lawyers, the head bar course informed them that they have to attend the dinner and be at the venue on time just within the first minutes of the ceremony. This is because a roll call list will be moving around, or placed at the entrance such that whoever comes after a certain time will miss the registration processes, and likely be penalized and presumed to be absent.
It should be noted that the professional institution requires that the lawyers attend every activity no matter its significance. Every activity is a must attend for the lawyers and this usually counts as it can be used against one in the final term exam which requires proof of attendance of activities including lectures, and have evidence of the attendance.
To some lawyers, the dinner is a must attend as some of them are eagerly making preparations for their different attire that day. The lawyers were cautioned to be professional in their dress code, by wearing lawyerly colors, black and navy blue for the gentlemen and white or black, dresses, comfortable heels and minimal make up for the ladies.
