The Makerere University strike against the cumulative tuition policy has entered Week Two as a rare quiet overshadowed the university today morning. With a calm morning down pour, the university is being patrolled by Police Men and there is no trace of a student going for lectures.
According to reliable sources, several lecturers have also sent word to the students confirming their absence for lectures citing the risk on their lives and property if they dare make way into the university today.
Earlier on yesterday, we reported an attempt by management to end the impasse at the university by inviting the student leaders to a meeting to forge a way forward and end the demonstrations but in a reply, the students have rejected the call. Their reasons being that the management fulfills some conditions before the meeting can happen.
From a tweet by the Observer earlier today morning, you can watch a video recording of the situation in the university as it stands at the moment with the Police denying any journalists entry into the university.
