While addressing journalists at the launch of this year’s Muljibhai Madhvani Scholarship Program yesterday, Gerald Ssendawula, the Chairman of Madhvani Foundation officially announced that the foundation will be injecting UGX 700,000,000 worth of scholarship into students at university and other tertiary institutions across the country for the year 2019/2020.
“Uganda is gifted with many innovative gifted youth, unfortunately some of them cannot or can hardly afford to pay for their tertiary education. Therefore opportunities that address this need are vital for the youth and for the country Uganda. That is why for the 16th time the foundation is providing yet another opportunity, this is a journey that began with about three hundred million and it has been increasing over time.” Ssendawula.
Ssendawula later thanked the Madhvani family for supporting young people’s education in the country after assuring the public about the availability of the money and how ready it is to sponsor several students in tertiary institutions. In addition to providing the country with quality sugar, the Madhvani family has over the years been giving back to the community through various ways.
“Today I’m very proud, on behalf of the team to announce the launch of Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation Scholarship fund for the academic year 2019 valued at Shs 700,000,000. i’m greatful to the Madhvani family for their consistency in supporting the youth through education.” added Ssendawula.
In conclusion, Ssendawula called upon underfunded students pursuing sciences and technology to apply for this year’s program as well.
“I also wish to take this opportunity to call upon those pursuing science and technology courses that are underfunded under the scholarship to take advantage of the opportunity and apply.” Ssendawula said.
