After the demise that befell the Banda based Madonna Hostel on Sunday evening, the hostel management has finally spoken out on the matter that saw the perimeter wall fence rumble to the ground and students hostel rooms filled with gutter.
In a message that this Campus Bee reporter received after hours of waiting, The Hostel owner and manager, Mr Richard Tusiime also the CEO of RedPepper, a local tabloid, finally replied to the queries that were put across when the matter was voiced by the residents of Madonna Hostel.
The message reads;
“Thanks for the inquiry. A small section of the perimeter fence was swept away by yesterday heavy down pour. Heavy rains are an act of God which we can’t prevent. But we’ll restore it in a matter of hours.
Water shortages are everywhere in uganda. Ours is a third world country and so amenities like water and power once in awhile go off. But we ensure constant alternative at a ground tank which never runs dry.
On drunkards and drug users. Well this is a problem among some youths of campus age. But we deal harshly with culprits. Last semester we dismissed a student who was caught in the act.”
