On Wednesday evening, the guild presidential rally moved to Livingstone Hall where over 16 Guild President aspirants showed up for yet another campaign ahead of the upcoming guild elections 2018. Livingstone students began by blocking the entrance for all students without Makerere University identity cards.
The entrance blockade was short lived after police ordered Livingstone Generals to back off or else risk being teargased. Later, all students were allowed to enter Livingstone Hall without any interference in the amid tight congestion. Unlike the slightly organized previous rallies, yesterday’s rally turned chaotic after five guild aspirants delivered their campaign speeches.
Supporters from rival camps started screaming their respective candidates’ names something that made it hard for other candidates to speak. The rally turned more chaotic when Obbo “the hammer” tried to speak without leaving money in the Livingstone culture boxes.
A combination of peeved, money minded Livingstone residents and supporters of guild aspirants yielded nothing but violence throughout the remaining hours of the rally. The initial plan of allowing one candidate to speak at a time flipped sideways as all candidates wanted to speak at the same time.
