Dr Michael Kansiime, a veterinary surgeon and professor at Makerere University college of Veterinary Medicine, has passed on.
Dr Kansiime, who also doubles as the Executive Director of Dairy Development Authority died of kidney failure on Tuesday night.
It is understood that Dr Kansiime’s wife has donate a kidney to him but unfortunately this did not his health- causing the failure.
Prior to being appointed executive director at the Dairy Development Authority, Dr Kansiime was a lecturer at Makerere University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He replaced Jolly K. Zaribwende and his tenure was set to up to 2025.
In 1984, he joined Makerere University where he graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine.
In 2010, Kansiime represented Uganda on the regional body Community Animal Health Work Network where he over saw different project implemented by the body.
He also served as the head of Africa Institute for Strategic Animal Resource Services and Development, Makerere University.
