FDC Chapter leaders from various Universities that include Kyambogo, Makerere, KIU and Kampala University held a joint press conference at Makerere University on Wednesday where they addressed a number of reasons that may stop them from supporting FDC.
The angry team was led by the Makerere FDC Chapter President Edmand Kahiigi who sent a wake-up message to Kiiza Besigye following his continued silence on the recently introduced Social media and Mobile Money tax. Kahiigi says that he was denied access to Besigye several times and blames him for not helping in the transformation of FDC youths.
“In the past, we have been in the opposition but they are proving that they don’t have any plans for the youth as FDC. Every time you try to access one of the top commanders, it’s as if you are meeting God. If you think you are a doctor, a Kiiza Besigye and the people around you cannot allow the young people to access you, which kind of a leader are you?” Kahiigi wondered.
Kahiigi also went ahead to warn that if FDC does not change its ways of operation, him and other youths are ready to hit the exit door, “This is a warning by the way we are not begging; if FDC does not change its avenue, if it does not increase its entrenchment and the youth, we are going to leave it.” Kahiigi warned.
The heartbroken FDC die-hard also revealed that he is disappointed to see that FDC has kept quiet on the Social media and Mobile Money tax, as a party that had given hopes to many Ugandans. “The Social media and Mobile Money tax, what has FDC done? It has kept quiet yet it is a party that is giving people hopes to have a better Uganda.” Said Kahiigi.
The Kyambogo University FDC Chapter president Musanje Rogers who also doubles as the Guild Minister Social on and off campus also backed up Kahiigi’s idea of quitting FDC if it shows no signs of helping the youth and the country at large. Also present was Mbidde Ivan, the Kampala University FDC Chapter president who openly told the party leaders to adjust before him and his colleagues quit the blue camp.
