Makerere University was recently awarded certificates in recognition of offering training in programs of Medicine / Surgery and Dental Surgery at both Bachelor’s and Masters’ level by the East African Community Medical Boards and Council, valid for 10 years.
The certificates were issued to the College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) on the 28th March, 2019 and these certificates have to be renewed after every ten years for the University to award recognized and valid transcripts to the students who will have completed their studies in the above mentioned programs.
Both programs at undergraduate level run for five years, but the Master’s program in Medicine (Internal Medicine) has a study time frame of 3 years whereas Master’s of Dentistry (Maxillofacial Surgery) is studied for a period of 4 years.
The news about the awarding of the certificates were first released to the public by the Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe on social platform Twitter.
The Certificates have signatures of the leaders of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Councils of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
