The Makerere University students under their leadership of the students guild, on 18th February awarded the university bursar Augustine Tamale, and the deputy vice chancellor incharge of Finance and Administration, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe at the annual students’ guild dinner at Imperial Royale Hotel.
The awards were presented to the two managers of the university by the guild president Roy Ssemboga and the speaker Imran Kasujja.
The awarding makes the two gentlemen one of the very lucky personnel in the country to receive recognition from the 82nd Guild for their contribution towards the good of Makerere.
Previous ones being the IGP Gen. Kayihura, Gen. Salim Saleh, and KCCA Director Jenniffer Musisi among others.
Besides that, the members of the 82nd Guild House celebrated their tenure in leadership with glamorous suits, soupy dishes, wines and cakes.
The dinner which usually happens in November was not able to happen after the university was closed indefinitely by President Museveni only to be re-opened two months later.
“I pledge my full commitment to the guild and just like I have worked with the 82nd House, I promise to also work very well with the 83rd for the betterment of the university”, Mr. Tamale said in his speech.
The 82nd guild of Makerere will be dissolved on 2nd March to start a new roadmap for the 83rd that has to be in place within the first 50 days of the semester – all factors constant.
During that time, the guild speaker Imran Kasujja will be the interim guild president until a new one is voted into power.
