A group of Makerere University students who preferred to remain anonymous have declared tomorrow as a striking day over a number of issues including online lectures, high fees, unclear plan for the burnt main building, among others.
Dubbed “Fire Wednesday” the students have vowed to demand for what they believe has delayed following Prof Barnabas Nawangwe’s (Vice Chancellor) silence on the mentioned issues.
Among others, the students are also protesting over the delayed marks for third year students as well as the need to provide internet (Wi-fi) connection in halls of residence. The students have vowed to storm campus rocking red gowns in what has been termed as “Fire Wednesday”.
The university administration has not yet released a public statement regarding the planned strike but as usual, heavy police deployment is expected to humble the rioting students.
