In a phone call with KFM, a local radio station, Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe revealed that Makerere University contracts committee has kicked off the process of identifying a new graduation gowns supplier ahead of the university’s 71 graduation ceremony slated for May 2021.
According to Nawangwe, the graduands will be able to buy gowns from the new supplier set to be contracted.
Campus Bee has further learnt that Makerere University did not renew the contract of Team Uniform after the company failed to supply all the required gowns during the 70th graduation ceremony that happened last year.
It should be recalled that in December 2015, Makerere contracted Team Uniforms company to supply graduation gowns for a period of three years starting with the 67th graduation ceremony up to the 70th.
Following the company’s failure to supply all the gowns as agreed, the university found a tough time to calm down students who had paid UGX 98,000 for each gown.
We will keep you posted!
