Office of the Academic Registrar at Makerere University, has broken silence on the circulating reports of a continued suspension on the 15% tuition increment policy.
In a tweet shared Thursday, the public is advised to treat the earlier information with “contempt.”
The communication comes on day when the University’s Senate sits to have a way forward on a number of issues concerned with the incoming academic year 2023/2024 including admissions.
This policy, which was since suspended amid COVID-19 challenges, had been implanted in 2019; creating unease amongst the students of the institution who claimed, it was limiting a right of education to the less privileged.
The increment policy was supposed to be implemented every academic year since 2019 for the next five years, which was projected to end this year, 2023.
