Through their official social medial platforms, Makerere University has cancelled their virtual fresher’s orientation and registration which was slated to kick off on Monday 1st February 2021. The orientation, which was announced by the university’s Academic Registrar Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah will not take place.
According to a statement shared on their social media platforms, the university will announce new dates when orientation will be held.
“In order to ensure a wholesome experience of our great university, we are postponing the orientation of our freshmen and women which was due to begin on 1st February 2021 till further notice. We will announce a new date for orientation as soon as arrangements are finalized.” The statement reads.
According to the previous communication from Masikye, every Makerere University fresher should report with a laptop to enable him/her study online, as instructed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
This year’s orientation will be held online as a prevention measure against COVID-19. Makerere University normally holds their orientation ceremony at Freedom Square where all first year students congregate for tips about campus life, education, among others.
