The Directorate of Legal Affairs has established a Legal Aid Clinic which will provide free legal services to the Makerere University staff and students. More details indicate that the clinic will be running every Friday morning hours of between 9am-12pm.
Some of the services to be handled by this clinic include solving legal issues arising out of unemployment and industrial relations, laws and policies governing the University, internal dispute resolution and other matters that require legal interpretation and advice.
With the establishment of this Legal clinic, Makerere University students and staff will be able to know where and who to ask in case internal disputes/misunderstandings arise.
The legal clinic’s establishment has come following various cases where students and other staff members have had unsolved cases due to lack of enough knowledge or having incorrect information regarding the policies that govern Uganda’s biggest public University.
