Police in Moroto district in Karamoja sub region in the north eastern Uganda are holding a Makerere university lecturer over digging graves.
Ronald Ntenze along with a group of four men allegedly got digging graves at Catholic cemetery in Kangole village in Napak district.
Ntenze a specialist in minerals was arrested with one pastor and three others after them digging two graves pretending to be searching for mercury.
Irene Aceng, the Karamoja Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of the group describing the act as nasty.
He said the group was arrested after a tip off by residents who saw them digging the graves in the cemetery.
Others include Jane Apaiega Zurua pastor at Entebbe Pentecostal Church, Michael Mahaneh a geologist at Entebbe, Vincent Alijuma a dealer in minerals and Lawrence Koriangthe architect of the mercury deal.
The regional police commander of Mt. Moroto Zone Richard Aruk Maruk confirmed the development describing it as unfortunate.
