Makerere University has officially released the results for the 2026/2027 Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Pre-Entry Examination, with some of Uganda’s leading secondary schools once again dominating the highly competitive list of top performers.
Leading the rankings was a candidate from Mbarara High School who emerged as the best performer nationwide with an impressive 72 percent score in the examination conducted on April 18, 2026.
Close behind was a candidate from St. Mary’s College Kisubi who scored 68 percent, while Gayaza High School followed with 67 percent.
However, in terms of consistency and dominance among the top-performing candidates, King’s College Budo emerged as one of the standout schools, producing several candidates within the top bracket, including multiple scores of 65, 64, 60, 54, 53, and 52 percent.
Other schools that registered strong performances included Uganda Martyrs SS Namugongo, Seeta High School, Buddo Secondary School, Namilyango College, Nabisunsa Girls’ School and Mengo Secondary School, all of which had several students appearing among candidates who scored above the 50 percent pass mark.
The results also highlighted the growing competitiveness of schools outside the central region, with institutions such as Valley College Bushenyi, Seroma Christian High School, Ntare School, and Iganga Secondary School posting notable performances.
According to the Academic Registrar’s Department, all candidates who scored 50 percent and above passed the examination and have been recommended to the University Admissions Committee for consideration into the Bachelor of Laws programme.
The university also noted that candidates dissatisfied with their results may appeal within two weeks from the date of release.
The annual LLB pre-entry examination remains one of the most competitive university assessments in Uganda, attracting hundreds of applicants seeking admission into the prestigious law programme at Makerere University.
