Makerere University third year student, Zahara Muhammed Nakiyaga is the winner of Miss Uganda 2015/2016. The 23-year-old student who is pursuing a bachelor’s in Development Studies beat 20 other contestants to the crown. Her poise, brilliance when it came to answering questions was unmatched.
She was articulate, confident and above all kept her beaming smile on throughout the night. But Zahara’s win wasn’t a walk in the park, she beat tight competition from MUBS’ Engrid Wanyana Ritah and UCU’s Diana Nabimanya. Engrid emerged second runner up and Nabimanya closed in on fifth position. These girls evidently all had their eyes on the crown as they walked down the runway with confidence, ease and bright smiles.
Zahara, who also won Miss Uganda Central Region, says she will use her platform to uplift the youths to take on agriculture through social media.
The MAK student walked away with shs4m offered by the Djibouti ambassador, a night for two at Serena Hotel, a Toyota Raum and of course the prestigious crown for the fairest girl in the Pearl of Africa.
Zahara attributed her win to Allah, whom she says has been so good to her since she has been fasting throughout the beauty contest.
