Makerere University is in the final stages of launching the previously proposed course targeting to finetune mindsets of learners.
The update was availed by the Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe during a press engagement on Thursday 23rd March, 2023.
According to the VC, the course will be taught to all students admitted to the university across all academic units on a modular basis. It will be examined and the results will be included on the academic transcripts as an audited course.
Students’ perspective towards life especially while at campus will be impacted through this psychologically comprehensive module that is awaiting Senate approval.
The course will pave way for reforms in the university community like improved student-administration engagements compared to the infamous modes of interaction – strikes.
Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe revealed this while announcing some proposed reforms that the university intends to undertake over the next few years.
Other reforms included the move to reduce admissions at undergraduate level while increasing admissions at Graduate level. This is aimed at elevating Makerere University to a Research-led institution.
