Makerere University has officially handed over field activity buses to three of its colleges.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, along with senior members of the university management team, presented the buses to the College of Health Sciences, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources, and Biosecurity.
This was at the university Freedom Square, today, 3rd February 2025, where the elegant fleet was paraded.
“With university farmlands located across the country and partner hospitals both in and outside Kampala, the buses will ease travel for students undertaking field and practical training,” remarked Professor Nawangwe during the handover ceremony.
The new buses are expected to improve the mobility and accessibility of field-based learning opportunities for students across these colleges.
“The addition of these field activity buses is part of Makerere University’s broader efforts to enhance the quality and accessibility of practical learning opportunities for its students,” a member of university management remarked.
By providing reliable transportation, the university aims to enable seamless integration between classroom instruction and hands-on field experiences.
