The 10th edition of the Inter-University Human Rights Debate competition organized by The Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI) took place last week between 10th-11th at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi.
The debate ran under the theme “Our Rights, Our Freedoms-Raising the Bar” and teams from over 30 institutions participated.
With The Chief Justice of Uganda, His Lordship Bart Katurebe as the overseer, Makerere University team emerged victors with 85.4% after the 2-day debate.
Uganda Pentecostal University ranked as 1st runners up with 77% and UCU as 2nd runners up with 76.4%. 4th-year law student Lawrence Jjumba who presented the Research paper from Mak was also awarded Overall Best presenter.
The Winning team was under the Umbrella-ship of Makerere Human Rights Association led by Arthur Musinguzi.
