Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor has been entrusted by Vice Chancellors from several African universities to chair the board of African Research Universities Alliance.
According to a statement shared on Nawangwe’s social media platforms, the alliance will spur scientific research in Africa for further development.
“I thank my colleague VCs for entrusting me to chair the Board of African Research Universities Alliance. I am confident that the alliance of the top research universities in Africa will spur scientific research in Africa for our development.” Nawangwe’sstatement reads.
The African Research Universities Alliance is a network of universities from different countries and different historical backgrounds, but with a common vision which was established in March 2015.
The alliance aims at enhancing research and graduate training in member universities through a number of channels, including the setting up of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to be hosted by member universities.
