Makerere University’s largest female hall of residence, Mary Stuart Hall is undergoing a series of major renovations. This is primarily because it was damaged by a fire on May 26, 2018, in which at least five female students were injured and had to be admitted including a one Rosette Kyokunzire who received injuries on her eye and head as she attempted to jump to save her life.
Inspecting the hall earlier today, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe commended the construction team for a job well done and promised the students that it would be completed before they reported for the new academic year.
He even shared the news on social media.
“This afternoon I have inspected the on-going repair works at Mary Stuart Hall. The workers assured me works will be complete before the opening of the new semester. Good job so far.” he said
The students are currently on vacation holidays except for those doing internship which facilitated this renovation. They are to return next month when the new academic year starts.
