As the rest of the world was celebrating the international women’s day on Tuesday, somewhere in Mary Stuart at Makerere University, the box girls were also marking the day in style.
They organized a simple event where all girls present were served mouth-watering delicacies: nyama choma and ice cream; not forgetting cake. However, just a few of them managed to get a drink as most of them could be seen chocking on solid meat with endless drinks of oxygen.
The major event of the day was the launch of the new “Gongomess” who was well sculpted in cement and concrete replacing the old metallic one introduced in 1959. The girls dressed traditionally unlike on the other days when they rock short sleeves, and pyjamas! Gomesi (traditional attire) trended.
Among the few notable guests present was Bwowe Ivan a former guild present who cuddled girls like he was hug-starved for years.
