In her pre – recorded speech aired today evening on some of the local stations, the Minister of Education (MoE), Janet Kataha released her ministerial response plan to the pandemic, COVID19. She set 2nd May 2020 as the reopening date of the semester for universities and other tertiary institutions of learning.
The dates are premised on the country’s capacity to beat the virus and resume normal business if “everything goes according to plan”. The universities and institutions will have to continue the semesters they were on before the closure was declared by the president.
The president of the Republic of Uganda closed all institutions of learning on the 20th March 2020 as a counter measure against the onslaught by the corona virus and schools halted every activity and set to resume on a later date.
For the lower institutions of learning, 1st term will reopen on the 27th to 12th June 2020, 2nd term (22nd June – 4th September 2020) and 3rd term (21st September – 19th December 2020).
