Opoka Eric aka Eezzy, a Kyambogo University singing student has today morning met with officials from the Ministry of Health and Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) regarding the misleading message in his smash hit “Tumbiza Sound”.
According to information reaching our news desk, Eezzy has been tasked to record a remix to his top charting banger which contains better, responsible messages. Apparently, the Ministry of Health will meet the costs for both video and audio production.
All the parties agreed that the remix encouraging Ugandans to observe COVID-19 guidelines will drop within two weeks from today.
It should be recalled that Eezzy was summoned by UCC following a letter from the Health Ministry requesting the commission to ban ‘Tumbiza Sound’ over reckless messages in the song. According to the letter, the song called upon Ugandans to defy the COVID-19 guidelines something that they termed “reckless”.
While appearing on several radio, TV and in an interview with Campus Bee, Eezzy maintained that the song simply portrayed feelings of Ugandans who are suffering in lockdown. Eezzy added that his song actually calls upon the Ministry of Health to open bars, adding that they (party animals) will observe the guidelines such as social distancing, wearing face masks among others.
