On World Tourism Day, the Miss Tourism Uganda Pearl of Africa, a company that organizes the Miss Tourism Uganda beauty pageant was awarded by Uganda Tourism Board with an accolade appreciating them for the good works they have done in promoting tourism.
In the same way, Miss Tourism Pearl of Africa was also made proud last evening after Alison Mary Akello whom they sent to Nigeria to contest for the Miss Tourism Africa came out as the 2nd runner up.
Akello represented Uganda in a contest that had Tourism Queens from countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Côte D’ivoire, Mauritius, Chad, Namibia and Mozambique.
Before being crowned Miss Tourism Africa 2nd runner up, she was voted Miss Popularity after winning on the voting platform.
Akello isn’t among the newly crowned Miss Tourism Uganda contestants but rather the outgoing but according to Miss Tourism Uganda Pearl of Africa, she was picked a few months before the grand finale to represent Uganda in Nigeria.
This year’s pageant was won by Namibia’s Ndinelago ‘Ndina’ Emosho and she was crowned Miss Tourism Africa 2024/25 walking away with a cash prize of Shs7.3 million among other prizes.
The pageant takes place in Nigeria annually and is organized by Miss Tourism Africa.
