Students of Makerere University Business School this morning stormed their main campus in Nakawa to protest against and demand for the resignation of the Chairman of the institution’s council Prof. Baryamureeba. This is because he opposed the re-appointment of Prof. Wasswa Balunywa as Principal.
In a letter, President Museveni directed First Lady and Education minister Janet Museveni to re-appoint Prof Balunywa for another four-year term after his tenure had expired, breathing life into the career of the man who has been at the helm of the great institution since 1991 when it was Makerere University’s Faculty of Commerce.
This didn’t go down well with Prof. Baryamureeba who thought it was rather unfair of that given the fact that Prof. Balunywa had already attained the retirement years and needed to step aside in order for another person to take up the office with many analysts stating that he wants to take up the job.
Prof Balunywa being a darling of the MUBS fraternity, his students have demanded for the immediate resignation of Prof. Baryamureeba as the MUBS council chairman and have stormed the Nakawa campus where a Council meeting is currently taking place.
