The Uganda Young Democrats, MUBS guild candidate, Emmanuel Awori has condemned the gruesome attack on FDC guild aspirant, Walter Niwagaba Kakuru, who was beaten to near death on Monday night by unknown assailants.
“An attack on a leader is an attack on his constituency. This attack was not only an attack on our brother Walter, it was an attack on us. It is for this reason that I call upon you to be strong and vigilant. Your life matters and counts.”
Niwagaba was attacked last evening as he returned to his hostel after a long day of campaigns on campus.

Below is Awori’s full statement.
SUBJECT: UNCOUTH ATTACK ON BROTHER WALTER NUWAGABA KAKURU
At about 11:00pm, yesterday, I was shocked with the Photos of My brother and colleague Walter on Social media with brut some images of a deep cut and grazed shirt full of blood.
It was heartbreaking how mankind can stoop so low to hurt a fellow man.
I condemn this attack and I wish My Brother Walter a very quick recovery. Get well soon Brother. You do not deserve that pain.
The attackers to our brother and colleague, it is a shame that you cannot show yourself in the light. You attacked an innocent soul in the night. We thank God that He is still alive and will not accept defeat to injury.
You might have succeeded yesterday in causing pain to him but that is not the end. Security forces are not resting till they ensure that you will not lay a hand on any of our sisters and brothers again.
To the Students’ community, I pray that you stay calm as the situation is being handled. This attack could have been made on any one. Your brother, your sister, your nice or nephew or even you.
I argue you to be security conscious. Do not move alone much less move in the silent night. Our Hostel areas are not safe enough for us to move freely.
