News reaching the hive this evening indicates that the 33rd guild President of MUST H.E Jastus Mugenyi Kizito will be arrested anytime from now.
According to our internal source, the guild president together with his social affairs minister borrowed money to make the fresher’s ball event a success with high hopes of getting back this money.
The event that was held on 16th July will be remembered as one of the best Fresher’s ball western Uganda has ever had and this was witnessed by all students at MUST and from the neighboring institutions.
As per the time of publication, the guild president had been summoned by the central police of Mbarara to make a statement after one of the university students’ association that lent to him the money resorted to police as the last option.
Apart from this association, another counterpart that has lent money to the guild president also surfaced today morning at Police over the same charge as he also sees it as the last option because all the loan agreements done were mutual understandings without collateral security.
This comes in a period where the MUST government sponsored students have just finished their demonstration over delayed release of their living out allowances.
“I was so close to the university administration to an extent that I was told to run the event even without the university money as I was told I would get it back in the financial release but among the 20M that we used the university says that it only has 3M for the guild in this first quota,” Jastus said in the last guild council meeting that happened a week ago.
Adding onto this, most of the guild regimes in the past have been fully getting all their money (Over 60M) to run all guild activities for the two semesters that they usually serve but this time round the university only released 15M last semester that couldn’t even facilitate for what the guild had to do so far.
In the same manner, the university top management is ready to get money and facilitate an election that will wave out the 33rd guild regime but isn’t ready to release funds to clear the guild debts and this might witness their own guild president being arrested and charged because he is also not having all the money to pay back and clear the loans.
