The Academic Registrar of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Dr. Martha Kyoshaba Twinamasiko has this morning issued a statement indicating that students pursuing Master of Medicine will not go home despite President Museveni’s directive to have all universities closed in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19.
According to Kyoshaba, the ongoing semester 1 exams have been suspended and the rest of students should go home and wait for the university’s communication.
“The ongoing semester 1, 2020/2021 examinations have been suspended. This is in line with the President of Uganda’s directive to close schools for 42 days due to the COVID-19 situation in the country,” Part of the statement reads.
“Except for Master of Medicine students, the rest of students are advised to go home as they await further communication from the university,” The statement reads further.
Museveni’s directive to close all schools has come following a spike in COVID-19 cases . Universities like MUBS and kyambogo already registered several cases of the deadly virus forcing them switch lectures back online.
