The Mbarara University of Science and Technology community is in mourning today after one of its students, Nowembabazi Marvin, collapsed and died on campus this morning — just as he was preparing to sit an examination at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
Marvin was a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Management (BPSM III). By all accounts, he had arrived at the Faculty that morning ready for the day’s paper. He never made it into the examination room.
“Mbarara University of Science and Technology regrets to announce the untimely death of Mr. Nowembabazi Marvin.”
— Dean of Students, Ambrose K. Mugisha
The announcement was made by the Dean of Students, Mr. Ambrose K. Mugisha, in an official notice circulated across the university. News of Marvin’s passing spread rapidly through campus, leaving students and staff in shock.
The cause of death had not been officially confirmed at the time of publication. The university described the passing as untimely and deeply heartbreaking for the entire MUST community.

Marvin’s death is a painful reminder of how suddenly and unexpectedly loss can visit a campus community — and of the many pressures, seen and unseen, that students carry through their academic journeys. May his family, friends, and coursemates find strength in this difficult time.
