According to an update reaching the Hive, the mother to the Ugandan student who died in China as earlier reported has broken the silence to say she had been communicating with him on a daily basis and she would have learned if he had issues disturbing him.
It is further reported that, Shafiq Mbogo, a fourth year student who was pursuing bachelor’s degree in International Business and Trade at Shenyang University in Shenyang City, China was found dead outside his hostel of residence on Thursday (27th Feb) at about 2pm as missed out in the earlier report.
However, Mbogo’s mother, Ms Dorothy Wagalinda says her son had no reason to kill himself and demanded for a deep investigation and explanation of what happened before the body is returned to Uganda for burial.
“Yes he is dead but the story you saw is not true. My son never committed suicide and he was not at the balcony as it is stated in the report. He didn’t have reason to kill himself because I was talking to him every day. He was my best friend. At least he would have told me if he had a problem disturbing him,” Ms Wagalinda, the deceased’s mother said.
The deceased’s mother went ahead to affirm she had talked to her son earlier that day he was announced dead.
The brother to the deceased was also contacted and according to him, there is something fishy in the sudden death of his brother and that he suspects his brother could have been murdered.
