Covid-19 restrictions have been geared up with the second wave of the pandemic terrorizing the country. However, a section of the public still finds the directives to curb the spread of the virus useless. Yesterday night, Kampala Metropolitan Police raided Levels Lounge in Kamwokya, along Kiira Road and managed to arrest 36 party addicts as others escaped narrowly.
The territorial Police at Kampala Metropolitan has conducted an operation and a total of 36 revelers have been arrested from Levels Lounge Located in Kamwokya,’ Owoyesigyire, the KMP Deputy Spokesperson said.
He noted that the suspects include 14 women and 22 men . ‘They are currently detained at Kiira Road Police station on allegations of doing a negligent act likely to spread an infection of disease. We shall arraign them in court for penalties, as we await the fine structure from the Ministry of Finance,’ he added.
Bars were among places closed in March last year as a measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Illegal bar operations have however continued. Last weekend police arrested 1,100 people. In the previous weekend over 2,400 were netted in bars around Kampala.
