National Council for Higher Education has come up to trash the graduation held by Kayiwa International University (KINTU) on Friday 10.
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, the founder and a senior pastor at House of Prayer Ministries International had on the university’s 2nd graduation acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Integrated Studies.
According to the letter issued by NC HE, the university was operating illegally after failure to meet required standards.
“A letter informing the university on the closure was sent March 24,2020. An email on the same was sent and the same letter was sent by post office,” the letter reads in part.
The letter adds that from then, the university stopped to be recognized by NCHE, “Since then Kintu ceased to be recognized as a university in Uganda, any academic function carried out in the name of KINTU as a provisional license is illegitimate.”
The council stated that the awards from the same university should not be used for employment and further studies in Uganda and anywhere in the world.
Mr Saul Waigolo, the NCHE spokesperson added that the institution management failed to meet standards in the following areas;
“The university failed to set up buildings that reach required standards of a university, they as well lack qualified lecturers to teach their students. This in addition with their low number of students and failure to pay licence culminated in to declaring the graduation illegal” Mr. Waigolo noted.
Kayiwa International University is a private institution founded by Pastor Simon Kayiwa located at Balintuma road, Mengo in Kampala city.
