Ndejje University Vice Chancellor Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo has reflected on the need to take vaccination seriously ahead of the university’s reopening.
Following the President’s directive to have institutions of Higher Learning open on 1st November 2021, Ndejje University is making necessary preparations to open for students and other stakeholders in a safer mode.
“This circular serves to remind all Non-Academic and Academic Staff, students and parents that, as a measure of implementing SOPs, all students and staff will be expected to have taken at least one jab of Covid 19 vaccination before being allowed in the halls of residence or lecture rooms and offices of the University,” the VC communicated.
Prof Eriab went ahead to reveal the inconveniences defaulters; both students and staff may encounter;
“Students and staff may be requested to present an original and two (2) photocopies of their vaccination certificate. One photocopy will be put on the student’s file and an authenticated photocopy will be used by students to get a gate pass. On the other hand, staff who present their original vaccination certificate will have their name included on the list used by security personnel allow them to enter University premises whenever they want,” he added
Vaccination has become a major prerequisite to reopening most universities despite pleas to consider all students regardless of their vaccination status.
