Nkumba University management has expressed its sincere disappointment towards the Guild leaders who called upon students to boycott lectures until funds meant for the freshers’ ball are released.
Last month, students were dissatisfied with the Dean’s communication regarding the postponement of the social event due to lack of adequate financial resources, to which students replied with a threat to boycott lectures. (Details)
The university Vice Chancellor has thus come out to condemn the improper move through a memo noting that;
“Management emphasizes that there are laid down structures and procedures where students or staff should channel their grievances rather than resorting to inappropriate acts. Management invites students to desist from engaging in such acts,” a memo reads in part.
“Management further reiterates that it will not condone any acts of hooliganism caused by anybody to disrupt the smooth flow of lectures and other university activities. Finally, management stresses that studies shall continue to take place as scheduled. By a copy of this letter, the I/C Security and his security staff are instructed to ensure that peace prevails at the institution,” the Vice Chancellor emphasized.
