The Minister of Works and Transport Hon. Gen. K. Katumba Wamala is set to receive a doctorate from Nkumba University.
This was revealed by the Minister himself upon receiving a letter from the university Vice Chancellor Prof. Jude Lubega.
“I write to inform you that your name was proposed and recommended for the award of Doctor of Letters by the University Senate at its 107 sitting under minute: MIN.05/1st Cont./US/107/OCT/2023 and the University Council under minute: MIN.9/NUC48/10/2023 approved the recommendation to award you a Doctor of Letters of Nkumba University,” the letter reads in part.
“May I on behalf of the Chancellor, Board of Trustees, Council, Senate and Management invite you in accept an honorary doctorate of Doctor of Letters of Nkumba University at their 23rd graduation ceremony scheduled for Thursday 26 October, 2023 wt Nkumba University main campus, Entebbe,” the VC added.
Nkumba will hold its graduation ceremony tomorrow, October 16, thus Gen. Wamala will be presented to the Chancellor for the conferment of the Doctor of Letters.
By accepting the award, he will be entitled at all honors and privileges accorded to a graduate of Nkumba University and will be authorized to use the “Dr” before his name.
Nkumba University wished to congratulate the Gen on his outstanding contribution to the community.
In 2007, Gen. Wamala graduated from Nkumba University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and diplomacy. He also holds a Master’s degree of Science in strategic leadership from the United States Army War College.
He has military qualifications from the following military schools; Uganda Military Academy, Tanzania Military Academy, a military academy in the Soviet Union, Nigerian Command and Staff College, United States Army Command and General Staff College, and United States Army War College.
