Solomon Ngoboka, the former NRM Kyambogo guild presidential aspirant has petitioned the Kyambogo Electoral Commission against FDC’s Lugalavu Lawrence’s win in the recently concluded guild elections.
Solomon was of recent spotted at the Dean of Students office asking for a forward to seek redress after he was beaten in the polls by 959 votes.
The Dean allowed the process to take on after obtaining a certain number of signatures from the students fraternity. The petition, that will be heard by the Kyambogo tribunal is based on the following grounds;
- The written and electronic voter registers provided by the electoral commission had missing names of many students i.e state house sponsored students and students on loan scheme, government students and so many other students.
- The chairperson electoral commission acted out of the scope of their mandated and jurisdiction in permitting the students whose names were not on the voter’s register to vote with one identity card, contrary to what had been agreed upon.
- At the faculty of education, class lists were adopted instead of the provided voter’s register.
- The total number of voters was not established by the electoral commission at each polling station.
- Ballot stuffing in favor of FDC candidate Lawrence Lugalavu.
- Appearance of a disqualified candidate Komaketch on the ballot paper.
- Ballot books were missing at certain polling stations particularly the faculty of education and UNISE.
