The growth of online video platforms has created new opportunities for entertainment professionals to reach audiences directly, and Nsubuga Denis is among those building their careers around digital content.
Known professionally as Thunder Media UG, Denis began his career in 2015 as Thunder Promoter, working in music promotion and artiste management. While still a student, he developed connections within Uganda’s entertainment industry and worked with artistes including Recho Rey, Green Daddy and Denzo.
His initial experience was built around promoting music and helping artistes gain attention. With time, however, Denis decided to move away from traditional music promotion and explore content creation.
The transition marked a change in both his professional identity and the format of his work.
Under the Thunder Media UG brand, Denis conducts interviews for YouTube and distributes content across different social media platforms. This approach allows him to present conversations in video format while making them accessible to audiences across multiple digital channels.
His work reflects the flexibility of independent digital content creation, where creators can develop their own identities and publish directly to audiences without relying exclusively on traditional broadcasting platforms.
For Denis, the subject matter is equally important. He says he often focuses on people dealing with particular problems, with the aim of encouraging public engagement and helping identify possible solutions.
The change has allowed him to draw on the experience, contacts and understanding of the entertainment industry that he developed during his years as a promoter.
Rather than treating music promotion and content creation as entirely separate careers, Denis’ journey connects the two through a continuing interest in people, entertainment and public attention.
His evolution from Thunder Promoter to Thunder Media UG illustrates how an entertainment professional can adapt to the digital environment by developing new formats and finding a different purpose for an established industry background.
As he continues producing interviews and sharing them online, Nsubuga Denis is working to strengthen his identity as a digital creator in Uganda’s evolving media landscape.
