The National Unity Platform Guild Presidential candidate John Mbaziira has won the Kyambogo University Guild Presidential elections.
Mbaziira trounced his close rival, and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) aspirant Trust Mugisha.
Mbaziira, whose photo was missing on the ballot paper polled 4,372 where’s his close rival, Mugisha came second with 3,638 while NRM’s Tayebwa Jonathan came third with 750 votes out of the 9,069 valid votes that were cast on Thursday 11th March.
No face on the ballot paper
The Guild President elect’s photo did not appear in all the ballot papers that were printed by the Kyambogo University Electoral Commission.
According to Mbaziira John, “the University administration did not act according to the University constitution. They were just looking for excuses to fail us but the Kyambogo students know what we stand for, a policy-based leadership.”
When asked by Campus Bee earlier in the day if he is afraid that this will affect his votes, Mbaziira says that he is not afraid. “I know there could be some who might get misguided but our support is too overwhelming to scare us.”
Among other candidates that appeared on Thursday’s ballot were; Mugisha Trust Nduwayo of FDC Tayebwa Jonathan of NRM, Kigaye Collin (Independent), Ssubi Julius Ceaser (Independent), Onai Emmanuel Peter, Mugeni Sharifu (Independent) and Markmort Daniel who later joined Mbaziira John sr.
The Guild representative elections are set to be on the 12th this month.
