Ogwang Robinson Apunyo, a third year Makerere University Business School (MUBS) student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration was on Thursday evening declared the new Guild President by the institution’s electoral commission.

Ogwang emerged winner after a tight poll that happened on Thursday at the Nakawa-based university. Ogwang faced off with Julia Muhumuza and Hilary Tumusiime in a tightly contested guild presidential race that saw him gathering 1,009 votes.

The newly elected guild president  was followed by Tumusiime Hilary with 713 votes and Julia Muhumuza with 501 votes.

Ogwang, who is now awaiting swearing in to take over leadership is replacing Romulus Tusingwire, who has been the leader for almost two years now. The university holds guild elections every year but they were unable to elect new leaders in 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Tusingwire will be remembered for standing with students in difficult times as well as supporting those struggling financially.
