Makerere University Academic Registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah has released more guidelines to be followed during the university’s 71st gradation ceremony slated to run from Monday 17th May to Friday 21st.
According to the latest guidelines, the ceremony will be blended in nature and will be attended by a few university officials, Ph.D graduands, masters graduands and first class undergraduate graduands physically.
More details indicate that other graduands and their parents will follow the ceremony virtually on television and on other video streaming platforms like Facebook and YouTube.
According to Masikye, the move was made in response to COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health on gatherings.
“Please note that all graduands’ names will be read out during the live television coverage and live streaming on social media platforms. The students who take an oath from the College of Health Sciences and College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bi-Security shall take the oath online,” Masikye’s statement reads in part.
