Wandegeya traffic police under OC Bainomugisha has today started cracking down boda boda cyclists who have continued to break traffic laws which are causing fatal accidents that are leading to deaths of many especially students.
For the past weeks and just this Tuesday students like Charity, Julie and Doreen from Makerere and MUBS respectively, passed on due to boda boda accidents and following those incidents, some concerned citizens and fellow students went on to rant on social media and especially Twitter to express their level of concern and called for Uganda police and UNRA bosses with the hashtag #RegulateBodaBodas to do something about it.
At the mention of this, the government has quickly reacted and police is now hunting down all bodas without PSV, License, insurance and helmets.
For starters 145 boda bodas were confiscated today at Wandegeya over reckless riding and lack of the above mentioned items. OC Bainomugisha says this will continue until bodas bodas get back to their senses and the number of death tolls from boda bodas reduce.
