Mukisa Joshua William, the former Makerere Guild Aspirant who came second to fellow People Power candidate Julius Kateregga is at Bombo Military hospital like we reported yesterday.
He was referred there from Mulago National Referral Hospital, for reasons of “congestion and the sensitivity of the matter” according to a one Fred, who is a Makerere University student and a confidant of Mukisa that first saw him when he miraculously resurfaced.
According to Fred, Mukisa called him at about 1 am on 2nd June and upon receiving the call, he rushed to a petrol station in Bulenga with the Chairman of Lumumba Hall where Mukisa sleeps only to find the former guild aspirant visibly weak, shaken, tormented and clobbered almost beyond his senses.
Fred said that despite his miserable state, Mukisa, who was able to talk and walk with support told them what happened on the night he disappeared.
That on the fateful night, while on his way from the Makerere University main library where he was doing final preparations for his Examinations, he was forcefully taken by men who pushed him into a car, gagged and blindfolded him. His bag with a laptop was still in his hand.
According to Mukisa, the men whom he later discovered were from the military droved him to an unknown destination where he was held and beaten (tortured) severely.
That for the days he was in detention, he was fed on nothing but a cup of porridge per day for all the days!
His captors demanded that he denounces People Power, the movement whose flag he carried in the guild race where he came second or else, his life was to be in danger.
Mukisa said that more than once, he was injected with a substance he didn’t know and sometimes woke up from what felt like a state of unconsciousness!
On the night he was released, he found himself at a swamp after waking up from what felt like a state of unconsciousness. That he felt something like water under his feet. From here, he crawled to safety. He managed to gather some strength and walked to the petrol station where he made a call to one of the students in Lumumba using a handset owned by one of the staff at the petrol station.
From there, Fred says, they reported a case to the police, who took them to Mulago hospital. His family (father, mother and sister) were contacted at this point and they too came through. From Mulago, he was transferred to Kiruddu and the next day was taken to Bombo Military hospital on orders from a yet to be identified Military personnel.
